Аннотация This paper reviews population studies of the Colorado potato beetle. Data on DNA, chromosomal, protein, and phenetic polymorphism markers are considered. Frequency distributions of mutations for insecticide resistance of the Colorado potato beetle are presented. We have shown that molecular genetic methods can be used to assess the nonspecific resistance of the beetle to insecticides. The issue of whether the Colorado potato beetle is a polytypic species is discussed on the basis of the currently available evidence on its polymorphism.
