Аннотация The article offers some observations on several questions concerning the different aspects of functioning of the Early Middle Ages (VIII–XI cc.) cemeteries in the region of Staraja (Old) Ladoga. The study contains some new ideas about the topography and burial rites of various groups of Ladoga burials. Authors assume the existence of two more Viking age cemeteries in Ladoga, destroyed by later cultural layers. This hypothesis is proved by the materials of recent archaeological excavations and by the late medieval (15–17 cc.) written sources, mentioning probably the earlier burial mounds
