Аннотация Under the heading of “Modern economic classics” we continue publishing the papers that became well-known in the West, but were never translated into Russian. In this issue we would like to offer our readers an article by Armen A. Alchian and Harold Demsetz, the founders of property rights economic theory. The article was initially published in 1972 and had a great impact on the evolution of the theory of the firm. The paper considers the problems of joint use of resources and team production as well as those of property rights redistribution, caused by such a form of economic organization
