The social function of Korean traditional dance in the culture of Korean Diaspora

Аннотация The social function of Korean traditional dance in the culture of Korean Diaspora - Focusing on St. Petersburg, Russian Federation- This thesis investigates the social function of Korean traditional dance in the culture of Korean Diaspora in St. Petersburg, Russian Federation. The word ‘Diaspora’ means a steady set of people of the uniform ethnic origin, living in foreign environmental outside of the historical native land (or outside of an area of moving of people) and having social institutes for development and functioning of the given generality. National dance is a component of a spiritual life of ethnos. Really, live national dance existed for the sake of dancing executors; it collectively was created and reproduced. At the same time it was individual on the experience. Its time is simultaneously infinite, historically close. The Korean dance was being enriched by philosophical doctrines and religious beliefs. It has connected their elements shamanism, Confucianism, Daoism and the Buddhism. Between these elements is not present the contradiction as for example to the western culture, and find in harmonious unity, enriching and supplementing each other. As, the Korean dance the nature, moderation etc. Process mastering of the Korean dance not only techniques training, but also education of the mature person and spirituality brings to the person internal harmony, calmness, tolerance, obedience of the law. The purpose of this study is the process of revival of Korean culture by the Korean Diasporas as an ancestor's culture and theirs through the education of Korean traditional dance. The methodologies used in this study are a historical research, a questionnaire poll, a depth interviewing and a participant observation. Author has worked as a teacher of the Korean traditional dance, at the same time, as an artistic director in the Korean traditional dance company "Soun" for 3 years. Training to the Korean dance allows to see rather complex, but simultaneously interest to dance, mastering of its complex philosophic and aesthetic maintenance, movements, plastics and through it changes of the attitude for culture of Russian-Koreans, - another, to "another's", unfamiliar culture which becomes close and clear. The Russian society requires stability. Showing special care of ethnic minority, the Russian Government creates conditions for formation of new culture of interethnic dialogue, considering it as the important tool of struggle about intolerance and xenophobia. The decision of this problem represents itself as one of mainstreams of the state national policy. Experience of Russia is important and useful to Korea. One of ways of its achievement is formation of the tolerant relation to other cultures. Acquaintance of Russians to traditional Korean dance can promote successful intercultural dialogue. In turn, this will enrich also Russian culture.
