An interdisciplinary team of researchers in KU's School of Engineering has a Postdoctoral Research position requiring a highly motivated individual to participate in research funded by the National Institutes of Health. The research involves the combinatorial optimization and computational molecular design of novel polymeric drug delivery vehicles for anti-HIV microbicide application. The successful candidate for this position must be eligible to work in the U.S. prior to the start date of the appointment. This appointment is for 11 months with the possibility of annual renewals contingent on funding availability.

Required Qualifications:

Evaluation of the requirements will be made through (1) records of accomplishment entered into CVs, (2) descriptions of research and educational experiences provided in application materials, (3) publications, and/or references.

1. PhD in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Bioengineering/Biomedical Engineering.
2. Three years minimum experience (coursework/research or industrial) working on techniques of computer-aided molecular design.
3. One year minimum experience (coursework/research or industrial) relating consumer product needs to molecular properties.
4. Minimum of three publications in peer-reviewed journals on molecular/product design topics.
5. Minimum of three presentations at international scientific conferences on molecular/product design topics.

NOTE: To be appointed at the Postdoctoral Researcher title, it is necessary to have the PhD in hand. Appointments made without a diploma or certified transcript indicating an earned doctorate are conditional hires and are appointed on an interim basis not to exceed a six months.
