Job Description:
We are looking for a postdoctoral research fellow to work in a project entitled “Preparation of stimuli-responsive magnetic functionalized hybrid nanoparticles via Self Assembly of the ABCDE type block copolymers for high performance coatings applications (Nanohybrid) “ - PTDC/EQU-EPR/114354/2009.
This multidisciplinary project comprises the synthesis of stimuli-responsive amphiphilic block copolymers by living radical polymerization (mainly ATRP), chemical functionalization, self-assembly studies of block copolymers in the presence of iron nanoparticles with different magnetism, polymer characterization and application of the technology in advanced coatings in industrial environment.
The grant has duration of 12 months, easily renewable up to a total of 36 months. The grant is 1495€/month (free of charges) and includes accident insurance and social security contributions and is under an exclusivity contract according to the FCT “Regulations for Advanced Training and Qualification of Human Resources” .
Applicants should have a PhD graduate in the field of polymer chemistry, organic chemistry, nanomaterials or related disciplines. Preference will be given to candidates having:
-Skills on living radical polymerization methods
-Experience in organic chemistry
-Experience in supramolecular chemistry
-Hands on with different characterization techniques (NMR, GPC, mDSC, TGA, rheology, light scattering)
