Based in The Search Technology Centre (STC) in Soho we are looking for a Masters and Ph.D student in Computer Science to join us for an unforgettable 12 weeks, from July to September.

The STC is comprised of a team of dedicated leaders and technical contributors passionate about delivering the best search experience for Microsoft customers in Europe and around the world. We are extremely dynamic, collaborative and focused on improving the overall search platform and relevance of search results in European markets. Deep interactions with research, incubation projects, structured data indexing, relevance measurements, results ranking, data mining, index composition, spelling, are some of the topics that keep this team busy. Our efforts will span the search runtime, search platform, web crawling and indexing, and user data platform. We have a distributed system with tens of thousands of computers (and growing) to return results from billions of documents, several thousand queries at a time, in a matter of milliseconds. Crawling and indexing the web is a large scale distributed problem with exacting needs in speed, accuracy, and comprehensiveness - and expanding relevant coverage across markets poses additional unique challenges.

If you are a proactive and passionate student, we want to hear from you. We are looking for people that will bring ideas and innovation - that will challenge the status quo and have the unrivalled ability to shape a leading online product. Can you make a real impact in a fast paced environment? If your answer is yes, come and join us.

Whats in it for you?
The Post Graduate Intern Scheme comes with some great advantages from day one. Alongside exposure to many different components of Bing, the coolest search engine on the planet. You will get hands-on experience in the internationalization of a major software product, exposure to rapid-development processes and experience of using real-world data to mold product direction.
