A European Union funded postdoctoral position is available in the group of Associate Professor Roger Pocock at BRIC, University of Copenhagen. Research in the group is focused neuronal development and microRNA-mediated stress responses.

Postdoctoral area of research
We are interested in understanding how animals control stress responses. To this end, we have identified specific microRNAs in C. elegans that are required under stress. The postdoctoral position will involve characterization of the stress-responsive roles of these microRNAs at the molecular and cellular level.

Qualifications
Highly motivated, ambitious candidates with a PhD in Life Sciences are encouraged to apply. At least one first author publication is required in the fields of biochemistry or RNA biology.

Place of work
The employment is at BRIC, University of Copenhagen. BRIC is located close to the centre of Copenhagen, in the Copenhagen Biocenter. We offer creative and stimulating working conditions in a young, dynamic and international research environment. Our research facilities include modern laboratories, a number of core facilities shared between the 16 research groups and well-functioning administrative and technical support.

Terms of salary and employment
The position is for 3 years and is scheduled to start in 2011. Salary, supple¬ment, pension and terms of employment follow the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Academics Central Organization. Currently, the monthly postdoc salary begins around 4.200€ including supplement plus pension around 720€. Depending on qualifications, a higher salary may be negotiated. Non-Danish and Danish applicants may be eligible for tax reduction, if they have not lived in Denmark the last 10 years.
