KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
To take on specific responsibility for lake fish surveys within a team taking forward a research programme into the development of lake modelling tools for the purpose of lake ecology management. The programme aims to model ecological responses of lakes to possible programmes of measures
undertaken for compliance with the Water Framework Directive.
- To coordinate, manage and carry out fish surveys on Lough Neagh and a series of small lakes in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
- To manage and carry out laboratory processing of fish samples arising from fish surveys, to identify and input to a database key biological and ecological data for characterisation of fish populations.
- To complete technical reports on the fish data.
- To engage with the other Project Partners and relevant parties outside AFBI where required in order to coordinate and complete fish survey work.
- To engage with SEUPB and cooperate with any auditing processes they put into place.

- To support the Programme Communication Plan.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Applicants must, by the closing date for applications, be able to demonstrate having:
1. Experience of managing and participating in fish surveys or related environmental projects / programmes.
2. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams.
3. Good communication skills and experience of dealing with project stakeholders.
4. Knowledge of environmental science, especially in relation to
freshwater fish and their place in lake ecology.
5. A full driving licence that enables the applicant to drive in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
