Aim of the project: There is an increasing body of evidence suggesting that astrocytes have a central role in the pathogenesis and progression of neurodegenerative diseases. Using a mouse ALS model, we will study on a molecular and functional level the effect of genetic or pharmacological modulation of astrocyte activity and reactive gliosis on ALS.
Candidate profile: You can be a medical doctor, cell, molecular or developmental biologist, molecular geneticist or similar, with strong interest in experimental biomedical research. You should have a strong PhD record with articles published in international journals. Previous training in the techniques that will be used is not required but is an advantage. You should be ready to work in a dedicated international research team. Your command of English should be excellent or outstanding.
How to apply: Please send the following files: (1) your full CV including the list of publications, (2) records of your University courses and degrees, and (3) three references, to Professor Milos Pekny, MD, PhD at Milos.Pekny@neuro.gu.se
