Five post-doctoral research assistant posts are available as part of a major multi-disciplinary research programme funded by The Leverhulme Trust: The Impact of Diasporas on the Making of Britain: evidence, memories, inventions. Each will work on one of five interdisciplinary projects: Modelling migration; Genetics and early British population history; Immigration and indigenism in popular historical discourses; Dialect in diaspora; Home and away in Anglo-Saxon England.
The successful candidates will be expert in one of the following areas: early medieval history; the archaeology of Britain in the first millennium; historical linguistics; social psychology; population genetics, and each will be responsible for writing up the research in the light of other relevant studies for the project monograph, conference papers and other academic output.
The successful candidates will each hold a PhD in a relevant subject and be able to demonstrate extensive knowledge of their specialist discipline. The post holders will work closely with other research associates and academic staff in the Impact of Diasporas programme at Leicester and at the University of Nottingham.
