Аннотация The given research concerns the analysis of a phenomenon of music in R. Descartes’ philosophy. The article describes the features of historical and philosophical, ethical and aesthetics understanding of the music, and the problem of musical mechanistic determinism in R. Descartes’ works. The Cartesian understanding of the logic of music and its influence on the methods of musical composition, and on the theoretical foundations of classical harmony is analyzed too.
